Randolph Recreation

Recreation Director

The Town of Randolph is seeking an energetic, capable, collaborative, and experienced parks and recreation professional to serve as the Recreation Director.

The position is full-time, with a salary range between $60,000 and $67,500 and a full suite of benefits (pension, health insurance, dental and vision, and more).

The director is responsible for the ongoing planning for and operation of the Town’s sports and recreation programs for all ages and abilities. The Director is also responsible for operating an outdoor pool, outdoor ice rink, and the Town’s primary outdoor recreation facility (a park). The Town has operated a summer camp in recent years as well. A willingness to work on and with a team, ask questions, communicate clearly, and be adaptable are essential.

Burlington Parks, Recreation, & Waterfront

Recreation Specialist - Youth Programs

This position is responsible for supporting the planning, designing, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling and evaluating recreation/leisure programming for Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront youth programs. This position creates and facilitates both licensed and non-licensed programming for school age kids with an emphasis on filling childcare gaps during afterschool hours, school vacations, and breaks. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design recreation/leisure programming
  • Lead and direct recreational programming as needed
  • Establish with supervisor program goals, objectives and outcomes for programs.
  • Ensure that all programs and activities comply with department safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow City policy for collections of fees and charges for recreation activities and events.
  • Market programs in accordance with department policies.
  • Evaluate participation, attendance, trends, effectiveness and efficiencies of program activities.
  • Budget expenditures/revenues for program/event development and monitor revenue and expenditures for assigned programs.
  • Develop, reinforce, and sustain positive working relations and partnerships with public, private, volunteer and commercial organizations.
  • Ensure conformance with collaborative policies, guidelines, and practices with partners.
  • Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate part-time, temporary, and seasonal staff and volunteers for programming.
  • Coordinate with supervisor, staff/volunteer training and orientations and lead as needed general leisure programming.
  • Prepare and submit reports and records as requested by supervisor.
  • Procure, inventory, and issue supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, ensuring all supplies are available to facilitate quality program offerings.

Recreation Specialist - Core Adult Programs

This position is responsible for supporting the planning, designing, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling and evaluating recreation/leisure programming for Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront CORE Adult Programs. This position creates and facilitates programming for older adults at the Community for Recreation Education (CORE) center. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Procure, inventory, and issue supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, ensuring all supplies are available to facilitate quality program offerings.

Essex Parks & Recreation Department

Parks Maintenance Superintendent


The Town of Essex is accepting applications for full-time employment for a Parks Maintenance Superintendent.

This Parks Maintenance Superintendent oversees all aspects of Town of Essex parks, open spaces, and trails including but not limited to planning, budgeting, capital improvement plans, staff management, and maintenance. The Parks Maintenance Superintendent provides direct supervision to two Parks Maintenance Staff, seasonal staff, and one part-time Trails Coordinator. The Parks Maintenance Superintendent will also perform skilled manual work and equipment operation as needed. It is expected that this role, while performing many administrative functions, will also perform hands on field work as needed to ensure departmental work is completed in a timely fashion.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5 years' experience in park maintenance, construction procedures and methods, and equipment operation as well as prior supervisory experience.

The approximate salary range is $65,000 to $80,000 per year with the actual starting salary based on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, non-union, exempt position . Assistant Parks & Recreation Director


The Assistant director of the Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for administrative planning, organization and supervision of the recreation programs as Assistant Director to the Director. The Assistant Director represents the Director at conferences, meetings, and in other relationships as assigned by the Director. In addition, the Assistant Director will act for the Director in their absence. The Assistant Director exercises administrative professional judgment, with considerable latitude for independent action and initiative in the formulation, promotion and guidance of a comprehensive recreation program. Implementation of proposed programs and activities may require considerable flexibility in hours of the weekly work schedule.


The Assistant Director receives supervision through conferences with and review of work by the Director of the Parks & Recreation Department.


The Assistant Director is responsible at all times for the supervision of the Lifeguard Staff, other staff, and volunteer coaches as assigned by the Director.


  • Oversees a diversified program of recreation activities and services for the entire community.
  • Assists in the administration of the Recreation Department as assigned by the Director of the department.
  • Serves as the Director of the Parks & Recreation Department when the Director is absent.
  • Oversees the operation of the recreation areas and facilities for recreation programs under their jurisdiction.
  • Supervises the organization and conduct of the departmental programs and personnel associated with the programs, employees and volunteers, as assigned by the Director.
  • Compiles statistics, prepares service and activities reports, and informational materials for the Parks & Recreation Department as requested by the Director. 
  • Familiarity and capabilities with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, online registration platforms, APPs, social media and website management.
  • Aids in the preparation of budget and supporting materials, work programs and financial records.
  • Assists with informing and educating the public with the Parks & Recreation’s programs through all suitable means, including the use of volunteers, staff members, social media and website.

Essex Parks & Recreation


Trails Coordinator


The Town of Essex, Vermont is seeking a Trails Coordinator to coordinate the management and enhancement of municipal-owned lands and approved easements throughout the Town of Essex, with a particular focus on trails. The Trails Coordinator will plan, develop, and coordinate trail maintenance and projects. The Trails Coordinator will make all community trails and open spaces more known and welcoming to the public through accurate, easy to understand, and readily accessible information, including but not limited to mapping and wayfinding. The person in the role will explore the development of a volunteer trail caretaker program as well as act as the Parks and Recreation staff liaison for the Conservation & Trails Committee.

This position works under the direction of the Parks Maintenance Superintendent. The Trails Coordinator position is governed by the Town of Essex Personnel Guidelines and works in accordance with all town policies. In general, the regular work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a 28 hour per week position, so the schedule can be flexible depending on the needs of the employee and the Town. Attendance at night meetings and after hour programs will be required as needed.

This position requires three years of progressive experience in trail and/or park management, development, construction, and maintenance. An Associate’s degree or higher in natural resource management, environmental sciences, GIS, recreation management and administration, park management and administration, engineering or a related field is preferred.
