Randolph Recreation

Recreation Director

The Town of Randolph is seeking an energetic, capable, collaborative, and experienced parks and recreation professional to serve as the Recreation Director.

The position is full-time, with a salary range between $60,000 and $67,500 and a full suite of benefits (pension, health insurance, dental and vision, and more).

The director is responsible for the ongoing planning for and operation of the Town’s sports and recreation programs for all ages and abilities. The Director is also responsible for operating an outdoor pool, outdoor ice rink, and the Town’s primary outdoor recreation facility (a park). The Town has operated a summer camp in recent years as well. A willingness to work on and with a team, ask questions, communicate clearly, and be adaptable are essential.

Burlington Parks, Recreation, & Waterfront

Recreation Specialist - Youth Programs

This position is responsible for supporting the planning, designing, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling and evaluating recreation/leisure programming for Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront youth programs. This position creates and facilitates both licensed and non-licensed programming for school age kids with an emphasis on filling childcare gaps during afterschool hours, school vacations, and breaks. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design recreation/leisure programming
  • Lead and direct recreational programming as needed
  • Establish with supervisor program goals, objectives and outcomes for programs.
  • Ensure that all programs and activities comply with department safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow City policy for collections of fees and charges for recreation activities and events.
  • Market programs in accordance with department policies.
  • Evaluate participation, attendance, trends, effectiveness and efficiencies of program activities.
  • Budget expenditures/revenues for program/event development and monitor revenue and expenditures for assigned programs.
  • Develop, reinforce, and sustain positive working relations and partnerships with public, private, volunteer and commercial organizations.
  • Ensure conformance with collaborative policies, guidelines, and practices with partners.
  • Recruit, select, supervise, and evaluate part-time, temporary, and seasonal staff and volunteers for programming.
  • Coordinate with supervisor, staff/volunteer training and orientations and lead as needed general leisure programming.
  • Prepare and submit reports and records as requested by supervisor.
  • Procure, inventory, and issue supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, ensuring all supplies are available to facilitate quality program offerings.

Recreation Specialist - Core Adult Programs

This position is responsible for supporting the planning, designing, organizing, staffing, directing, controlling and evaluating recreation/leisure programming for Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront CORE Adult Programs. This position creates and facilitates programming for older adults at the Community for Recreation Education (CORE) center. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design recreation/leisure programming
  • Lead and direct recreational programming as needed
  • Establish with supervisor program goals, objectives and outcomes for programs.
  • Ensure that all programs and activities comply with department safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow City policy for collections of fees and charges for recreation activities and events.

  • Procure, inventory, and issue supplies, materials, and equipment as needed, ensuring all supplies are available to facilitate quality program offerings.

Executive Director
One-Year Contract (Contractual Position)


Position Summary

The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of RIRPA and is responsible for providing leadership, administrative, and managerial services for the Association and its members. Reporting directly to the RIRPA board, this role ensures continuity in our programs, serves as the Association’s spokesperson, and advocates for the parks and recreation profession.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in leisure, recreation, parks, business, or a related field preferred
    • Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive experience in leadership roles. Experience in association management is preferred.

      Working Conditions

      • The Executive Director is expected to provide their own office equipment (telephone, computer, printer, etc.).
      • Regular travel throughout Rhode Island and attendance at professional conferences and meetings is required.


      Compensation & Contract Details

      • Base Salary: Up to $15,000 per year based on qualifications and experience.
      • Commission: 25% of revenue growth
      • This is a one-year contractual position with the possibility of extension based on performance and Association needs.

      Request for Proposals (RFP) for Grant Writing Services Overview The Town of Swanton is accepting proposals for grant writing services for the proposed multi-generational community center project.
